Turkish Federation aims for trade with South America to reach $20 bn

The Turkish Federation of Businessmen and Industrialists (TUSKON) expect mutual trade between Turkey and countries in South America to reach $20 billion within the next five years. TUSKON aims to open new horizons for Turkish investors by constructing “trade bridges”.

Turkish Federation of Businessmen and Industrialists’ chairman highlighted how they expected to establish a trade bridge between South America and Turkey , benefiting both significantly. This new aim of the federation also consists of boosting relationships with countries in South America. In order to achieve these objectives TUSKON will send delegations to different regions to conduct preliminary research and organise trade fairs and meetings in various countries.

Turkey has already established trade relations with various countries. An example of this can be seen with African countries, exports to which have seen a threefold increase in the past three years. Trade between Africa and Turkey was recorded to be $9 billion by the end of 2008, increasing by 54 percent from January to November in the same year.
